In Flagranti - Brash & Vulgar (Disco 3000 Edit)

A short but sweet excerpt of Disco 3000 (AKA Erol Alkan)'s edit of Swiss-born NYC-based electro-discoers In Flagranti. Great footage!

Willie Mitchell - R.I.P.

One of the great producers Willie Mitchell died last week aged 81. Best-known for his work as the house producer for the legendary Memphis label Hi-Records where he made such crucial cuts as 'I Can't Stand The Rain' with Ann Peebles and 'Take Me To the River' with Syl Johnson. He was also an artist in his own right producing a string of fabulous funky instrumentals which still fill floors at Northern Soul clubs to this day.

His greatest work was however with Al Green in the 1970s where he was at the controls for a series of wonderful albums from 'Al Green Is Blues' through to 'Have A Good Time' in 1976.

From the rather underrated 'Full Of Fire' LP, here's the superb title track.

Roisin Murphy - Momma's Place

Roisin Murphy returns with new material for a new decade. It's been a couple of years since her criminally overlooked but influential (hello, Miss Gaga) 'Overpowered' album and the new single 'Momma's Place' (released on 18th Jan) with its wicked old skool house vibe bodes well for a new RM LP in '010.

Credit To Ze Edit

Following on from their superb Ze Records 30th Anniversary retrospective, the ever-excellent Strut Records have commissioned some smoking Ze re-edits from some of the biggest names around. Highlights include respected disco editist Greg Wilson's tweak of Was (Not Was)'s 'Tell Me That I'm Dreamin', Todd Terje's sublime re-working of Gichy Dan's 'Friendly Children' and a wicked dubbed-up version of Kid Creole's 1982 smash 'Annie, I'm Not You're Daddy'. Have a listen to the whole LP on Spotify here.
