One man groove machine, the incomparable Nile Rodgers, turned up in Bryan Ferry's backing band in ole London Town last week.
I could wax lyrical for hours on the great man's contribution and overall aceness but that would be, well, boring.
Better to leave you with one of his band Chic's finest moments here presented in Todd Terje's (looking forward to the next re-edit, Todd!) sublime re-edited form :)
NYC disco/punk funk collective du jour the Phenomenal Handclap Band have just released a new single replete with a cavalcade of remixes from the likes of Prins Thomas, the Glimmers and excellent newcomers Den Haan. Click here to have a listen on Spo-fy!

Speaking of 30 year anniversaries the one and only Ze Records (through Strut) is celebrating three decades of amazing tunes in the shape of a new compilation Ze 30: Ze Records Story 1979-2009. The album focuses on some of the less celebrated gems (from the likes of Suicide and Casino Music) from the archives alongside Ze classics from Was (Not Was) and Kid Creole & The Coconuts. Have a listen over on Spotify.
For those not acquainted with the mighty Ze, check out the brilliant Mutant Disco comps in three bite size volumes. 1,2,3 .
For your visual delight the amazing Kid Creole & His Coconuts and 'Stool Pigeon' (just don't mention the Dollyrockers ...)

M's Pop Muzik is 30 (!) years old nearly to the day and it's still an amazing groundbreaking tune. To celebrate the anniversary a whole slew of remixes have been commissioned including a very decent rework from Norwegian re-edit master Todd Terje. Have a listen over on Spotify.
But for my twopenneth, the original's still the one ...
Featured on the Rapture's nifty K7! mix last year and probably best known for supplying one of the numerous breaks for MARRS' Pump Up the Volume, Stax house band the Bar Kays' Holy Ghost is a tune in its own right. Correct me if I'm wrong but it may have also been the inspiration for respected DFA discoists Holy Ghost!'s moniker. dis-co.

Following a star turn on one of '08's best remixes/remakes (the Aeroplane version/reversion of Friendly Fires' Paris), Au Revoir Simone return with a new single, Another Likely Story with the Aeroplane boys on remix duty. Lovely stuff.
Electro and re-edit maestro Greg Wilson becomes first DJ to mix live on UK TV (the legendary Tube show) back in 1983.
The tune being mixed and mashed is the Paradise Garage classic 'You Can't Hide Your Love Away From Me' by David Joseph...
